A design story inspired by the history

Constructed in 1933, the Neo-Colonial building has stood as a cornerstone of tourism in Ibiza for nearly a century. Flourishing during its peak years from the 1950s to the 1980s, Montesol emerged as an esteemed Gran hotel, serving as a gateway to the white isle's hedonistic heyday.

Under its roof, celebrities, royalty, bohemians, and hippies alike converged, making it a haven where luminaries such as Pink Floyd, Orson Welles, and Carolina de Monaco once found respite. Nestled in an ideal location, Montesol Experimental is now a 5-star boutique getaway conveniently located within walking distance from Ibiza's Old Town and a short drive to beautiful beaches.

Experimental arrives in Ibiza

Experimental landed in Ibiza in 2013 with the arrival of Experimental Beach, a seaside escape tucked away in Las Salinas. In 2021, Experimental became the custodians of the Gran Hotel Montesol in Ibiza Town. Soon after, Dorothée Meilichzon reimagined each room, infusing a bohemian undertone throughout, using cool tones and lush patterns. A haven in the city centre with a beachside escape.

In the heyday of the 80s, music and psychedelia hit Ibiza, a tsunami of decadence. Overnight, celebrities descended. Our rooftop cocktail bar steps back in time. Rosé and cocktails with Dalt Vila views, the backdrop of Old Town. A place to start the evening, the promise of endless nights steps away.

Where the spirit of Ibiza unfolds

At the heart of it all, where the best of Ibiza is at our fingertips. Ibiza Town is awash with boutiques, cafés, cocktail bars and restaurants. A life lived slowly lingering over morning coffee and long lunches and cocktails beneath the stars.

Steps away, the marina shines with its glittering water and pristine boats bobbing in the water, waiting for the next journey to Formentera. Opposite, the Old Town and Dalt Vila stand proud overlooking the island. A walled city to discover awaits.

Out of sight, hidden coves reveal untouched beaches. Days spent to the soundtrack of waves. A short ride to Experimental Beach for an afternoon on sunbeds, a legendary sunset to follow, dinner beneath inky skies. A final bow, the island’s iconic clubs are a must.
