A return to New York, a celebration of subterranean cocktails
The city that inspired the first Experimental Cocktail Club, a blueprint for classic cocktail bars. After the doors closed on the first iteration of ECC New York in 2018, a new outpost opened due north in the shadows of the Flatiron Building. On a discreet side street, subterranean cocktails hidden beneath a wine bar, a space adorned in red lacquer and amber hues, echoing the colours of Scotch, rum and rye. A secret tucked away to discover. Dorothée Meilichzon’s designs come to life here, a revisiting of Art Nouveau codes through a nocturnal lens. A piano gleaming in bright white calls out, an invitation for a live set. Glasses raised, a toast to endless nights in New York. A cocktail bar where evenings linger, moments unfolding over each sip.

Beneath busy streets, a refuge from Manhattan’s overwhelm. A cocktail bar worth finding, the promise of memorable nights in NYC. Sinking into sofas, the echo of cocktails shaking, music floating through the ether. The evening begins, the twinkle of piano keys, a prelude of what’s to come. As the night continues, the lighting lowers casting a glow across tables as whispers carry the day’s secrets.

ECC New York also marks a reunion with Nico de Soto, who started out with the group as head bartender at Experimental Cocktail Club Paris, then at ECC Chinatown in London and ECC Lower East Side in New York. Since then, he has opened Mace in NYC, Danico in Paris, and Wacky Wombat in London, traveling the world in an insatiable quest for new flavors and techniques. Nico designs Experimental Cocktail Club’s beverage menus, featuring classics such as Old Cuban, St Germain des Prés, and Kota Ternate, alongside surprising novelties using clarification, carbonation and lacto-fermentation.

Experimental Sounds in New York
An evolution of sound, something new every night beneath the streets of New York. Early evening begins with softer beats, and as hours go by, the late night rhythm takes over as the energy increases. A pianist steps in, a few classics on the keys. A DJ takes over, offering the perfect set to accompany an evening of cocktails. A soundtrack of the city: subtle, immersive and attuned to the flow of New York’s legendary nightlife.

A sultry den for sipping cocktails, a nod to classic Gotham. Beneath the city streets, designer Dorothée Meilichzon took inspiration from cinematic lore and Art Nouveau codes.
A colour palette that echoes the deep reds and rich earthen tones of spirits, a mirrored ceiling and carpet beneath your feet. Organic shapes come into play, hugging the curves of a rounded bar, a form reiterated in the mirrors on the wall. A white lacquer piano stands boldly at the heart of the cosy bar, a gleaming tribute to old New York.
